“Putter Technology” sounds like an oxymoron, but it’s real. However, technology for putters is a slow science. On the average a putter is only moving 4 miles per hour. So technology needs to be exaggerated to have any real effect. Guerin realized this in 1994 when he invented horizontal face grooves for putters. Unlike standard grooves on irons Guerin positioned his putter grooves very close together so that the land area is narrow and gripping the ball at impact. This gripping effect allowed for less loft to get the ball into an immediate no-skid forward roll. Guerin’s innovation has now become a standard for the industry. His new Guerin line of 100% forged/milled putters seamlessly combines three new meaningful technologies with precision milling and beautiful, elegant design.

THE NEW FACE OF ROLL
VSE (WAVY) GROOVES

The technical name for our new face grooves is “VSE” which stands for variable surface engaging. The wavy pattern of the grooves is an improvement over straight grooves because there is more groove touching the ball (more groove “engaging” the surface). Also this wavy up and down pattern better conforms to the uneven dimpled surface of a golf ball. This provides a 50% straighter roll on off-center hits. Putts hit 1” off-center will travel 18” off either side of the target line with a standard putter but only 9” off the target line from a Guerin putter with VSE grooves. And grooves grip and lift the ball at impact producing an immediate forward roll that doesn’t skip and skid like standard putters. Who better to improve on putter groove technology other than the man that invented them, Guerin Rife.

PLAY AT YOUR BEST WEIGHT
TOUR SPEC WEIGHTING

Each putter is precision milled to a tour standard specified swing weight to accommodate the shaft length. Virtually every manufacturer produces putters with the same head weight then simply offers that head with different length shafts. While that may be convenient and cost effective for the manufacturer the different shaft lengths create very different swing weights. For example a 355 gram blade design putter head with a 34” length will have a D-7 swing weight. That same putter head with a 33” length will have a C-9 swing weight and at 35” will have E-5 swing weight. That’s a 16 swing weight range. This means the shorter putters will be too light and the longer putters too heavy. Tour Spec solves that problem by milling the heads to a weight that compliments the shaft length. Heavier heads for shorter shaft lengths and lighter heads for longer. This is accomplished by adding thickness to various parts of the head that are unnoticeable to the golfer. The result is that every Guerin Tour Spec putter has a specified D-7 swing weight for the blade design and E2 swing weight for the face balanced mallet design.

THIS PUTTER ROCKS

ROCKERSOLE

Golfers position their hands differently due to one of their eyes being stronger than the other. About 85% of golfers are right-eye dominant. This means that they will position their hands under their right eye at address thinking the shaft is at 90 degrees when in fact it is leaning back away from the ball one or two degrees. This forces the back edge of the putter to engage the ground and causes the toe to turn in, or “hook”. To keep the putter face square to the target line the golfer has to constantly adjust the putter head while trying to set up and execute the putt. For left-eye dominant golfers the opposite is true and the putter lays open. The RockerSole allows the putter to sit square to the target line regardless of hand position. This feature is especially helpful to golfers that set up with their hands under their right eye then make a forward press before making their stroke. The putter face always stays square.

110% MILLED
MASTER MILLING

If it were possible to mill more than 100%, Master Milling would be it. Typically when a putter is 100% milled it has sharp edges in hard to get places that have to be ground down and blended in the finishing process. Guerin putters are so completely milled that they don’t require any further finishing. We call this Master Milling. While this is very time consuming the final result is an attention to detail that surpasses every other milled putter on the market.
