Students, faculty, and staff are invited to join Dartmouth senior leaders on campus this spring for a deep dive into the workings of the university’s budget.
, a free not-for-credit course offered by the , will provide an insider’s perspective on higher education finance and Dartmouth’s budget process. The class will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. on April 30, May 7, and May 14.
will remain open through March 15. Due to high levels of interest and room capacity, the class likely will be capped. Participants will be selected at random from among the completed registrations. The location will be shared with the class later this month.
The course, led by , will include presentations by leaders from the divisions of Advancement, Financial Aid, and Campus Services, and culminate with a panel discussion featuring , , and others. The coursework will include short readings to be completed before each session, and because the subject matter is complex, participants are asked to commit to attending each session.
Then-President started the budget course a decade ago to help stakeholders understand Dartmouth’s priorities and financial decision-making processes. The popular class is being reinstated this year after having been on hold since 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Frew says he’s excited the course is being offered again.
“Higher ed is unique in how it operates,” he says. “To have faculty, students, and staff all in the same room is a great way to bring many different perspectives to the discussions.”
